The Red Springs & Northern Foundation held its 2nd Annual RS&N Motorcar Day on Saturday, March 26. Nine motorcars participated including the Foundation’s A-4 and A-6. It was a great turnout of motorcar enthusiasts.
The group met at the Red Springs depot where Tom Stallings conducted the safety meeting prior to departure.
Coffee, tea and water along with fresh danish was available at the depot in Red Springs for everyone before the ride.
Then it was “All Aboard” to Parkton. We motored north to Parkton where we had lunch track-side. We want to thank Parkton’s Mayor Al McMillan who opened Town Hall for members to use its facilities.
One of our newest members, Bruce Smith, was our chef for the day and provided the use of his grill and pot for cooking hot dogs – thanks Bruce!!! And of course, there were plenty of yummy desserts and “Peep S’mores”
The Palmetto, a northbound Amtrak train on the CSX track, blasted past the line of motorcars shortly after lunch. Mid-afternoon, the group departed southbound back to Red Springs.
It was a great day to be out on the rails……..
